Jurong Pioneer Junior College Congratulates its National Day Award 2020 Recipents
Jurong Pioneer Junior College congratulates four staff members awarded the 2020 National Day Award for their dedication to education and student well-being.
We are pleased to announce that four members of the Jurong Pioneer Junior College family have been conferred the National Day Award (NDA) by the Prime Minister’s Office in 2020. The NDA recipients are:
Our Vice-Principal (Education) Mr Nah Hong Leong, was conferred the Commendation Medal (Pingat Kepujian). Instituted in 1996, the Medal may be awarded to a person who has distinguished himself through commendable performance and conduct, or significant efficiency, competence and devotion to duty. We would like to recognise and commend Mr Nah for his devotion to making a difference in the lives of both staff and students, and commitment to improving holistic outcomes in the Education Service.
Our Full-Time School Counsellor, Ms Estelle Chia Sock Ying, was conferred the Efficiency Medal (Pingat Berkebolehan). Instituted in 1969, the Medal may be awarded to individuals for exceptional efficiency or exceptional devotion to duty or for work of special significance. We are deeply appreciative of Ms Chia’s tireless dedication to and great passion in supporting the well-being of both students and staff.
Our teachers Mdm Goh Lee Leng and Mdm Tay Ah Bee were conferred the Long Service Medal (Pingat Bakti Setia). Instituted in 1962, the Medal may be awarded to any person who is of irreproachable character and has served for at least 25 years in the public service. Mdm Goh and Mdm Lee have made many invaluable contributions, through their unwavering commitment to quality education and shaping both the hearts and minds of students.
In view of the ongoing national effort to minimise risk of local COVID-19 transmission through large scale events, the Ministry of Education has decentralised the presentation of NDA medals to HQ Divisions and schools. Our Principal, Dr Hang Kim Hoo, presented the medals and certificates to all recipients on July 15, 2021.
