Dialogue with Distinguished Speaker
JPJC hosted the Dialogue with Distinguished Speaker featuring Ms Goh Hanyan, providing JC2 students with an opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions on Singapore’s future, policymaking, and the importance of contributing towards a caring, resilient and “We-First” society.
On 22 April 2026, Jurong Pioneer Junior College (JPJC) hosted the Dialogue with Distinguished Speaker for our JC2 students, featuring Ms Goh Hanyan, Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment. Dialogues with Distinguished Speakers are annual events organised by schools and supported by the Ministry of Education (MOE) Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) Branch. These dialogues aim to foster civic engagement and deepen students’ understanding of Singapore’s governance and policymaking landscape.
Centred on the theme, “What’s Next – How do I better prepare myself for the future and contribute collectively towards a We-First society?”. The dialogue provided students with valuable opportunities to share their perspectives, engage in meaningful discussions, and gain deeper insights into the challenges and opportunities facing Singapore. The session sought to strengthen students’ confidence in Singapore’s strong foundations while encouraging them to contribute meaningfully to the community and society.
Through the dialogue, students explored how their personal aspirations can align with Singapore’s evolving realities and reflected on the importance of balancing individual ambitions with collective progress. The session also raised awareness of the principles and considerations behind policymaking, while inspiring students to play an active role in building a caring and resilient “We-First” society. We are grateful for this opportunity for our students to learn and grow in thought through such dialogues.
